Her Holistic Womb

Bridging the care gap for Black mothers and families. We provide free postpartum doula services, wellness care, and resource navigation across Los Angeles, South LA, and Inglewood — centering Black women, and turning no family away.

The problem

The infrastructure does not meet the realistic needs.

Black women in the U.S. experience pregnancy-related mortality at roughly three times the rate of white women.

CDC, 2023

50%

of undocumented immigrants, and 18% of lawfully present adult immigrants, were uninsured in 2023, compared with 8% of U.S.-born citizens.

Health Affairs, 2024

“The resources exist. Accessing them is the hard part. That's where we come in.”

Our story

Equity begins with realistic care.

I started Her Holistic Womb after the births of my two youngest children. I knew something was wrong in my own body, yet every appointment suggested otherwise. I was left to navigate my own recovery and to secure the bloodwork that revealed the real deficiencies — the kind Medi-Cal does not routinely cover.

Resources exist, but they are not always accessible. For mothers navigating housing insecurity, language barriers, or underinsurance, finding and qualifying for help can be a full-time job. Her Holistic Womb is the organizational response to that gap.

We advance maternal health equity by closing the postpartum care gap for Black, immigrant, and BIPOC mothers through holistic, culturally responsive support.

  • Equity

Care that meets each mother where she is, without exception.

  • Holistic Care

Body, mind, family, and financial wellbeing.

  • Cultural Responsiveness

Rooted in the languages and traditions of the communities we serve.

  • Community Integration

We embed within existing community networks, not alongside them.

  • Family-Centered

Postpartum recovery is a household effort. We support the whole household.

  • Empowerment

Mothers leave knowing their bodies, their rights, and their resources.

Invest in equity

An investment of $3,280 covers a full postpartum package for one mother in Los Angeles.

Full-spectrum postpartum support including newborn care, feeding guidance, soothing and safe-sleep education, physical recovery and rest facilitation, emotional support, light household help, sibling care, and trusted referrals when a need falls outside our scope.
